Our Recall (Observation) Program

Our Recall Program — also known as the Observation or Supervisory Program — is designed for children who are not yet ready for full orthodontic treatment but would benefit from periodic checkups to monitor their dental and jaw growth.

What Does the Recall Program Involve?

During these scheduled visits, your orthodontist keeps a close eye on how your child’s teeth, jaws, and bite are developing. These short, comfortable appointments help ensure that any changes in growth or tooth eruption are tracked early and that treatment, when needed, starts at the perfect time.

• Track how teeth are growing and erupting to ensure there’s enough space for permanent teeth.
• Observe jaw and facial growth patterns to detect early imbalances.
• Intervene at the optimal time with simple, minimally invasive treatment if required.
• Maintain ongoing communication with your general dentist for coordinated care.

These visits are typically scheduled every 6–12 months, depending on your child’s individual growth pattern.

Who Is a Candidate for Recall?

• The orthodontist determines that immediate treatment isn’t yet necessary.
• Significant growth is still expected, and early monitoring could influence success.
• Your child is waiting for more permanent teeth to erupt.
• There are early signs of bite imbalance, such as crowding or crossbites.

What Happens During a Recall Visit?

At each recall appointment, our team perform a gentle, thorough assessment of your child’s oral and facial growth. This includes:

• Examining the eruption of permanent teeth.
• Evaluating jaw growth, facial symmetry, and bite alignment.
• Checking for early signs of crowding, misalignment, or crossbite.
• Discussing any changes since the last visit.
• Determining if early intervention (such as extractions, expanders, or appliances) is needed.
• Updating or adjusting the future treatment plan based on current findings.
